Description

This social living Promethean flipchart focuses on differentiating between wants and needs. It opens with vocabulary terms: need, want, along with a definition and visual representation of each. Next, students are given several slides with two images in which they must either circle the need or the wants (the teacher can lead this activity however he or she chooses). Next, is a Kagan-structured activity with groups (my class was grouped into tables, but however you group your students is fine), in which they are presented with a set of labeled pictures and they are given a specific assignment of identifying and labeling the items they see. The next page is an individual marker board activity in which students must individually find the want out of the two pictures shown. The last page allows for review and closure with a higher order thinking question, along with a closing activity in which the teacher distributes books (can do this by pairs, individuals, or groups) and they must either find wants or needs in the books they are given.

*If you have already purchased my flipchart "Social Living: Needs and Wants" you may or may not need to purchase this one as well. While they are different lessons, they contain some of the same activities.
