What’s included with the 41 Topics:

While the grade level equivalent varies for the 3 leveled readers of each topic, all vocabulary terms and follow-up are the same. Although follow-up activities with the passages vary, the below activities are consistently included for all of the passages:

    • Vocabulary Chart Preview: Filled in with picture & student-friendly definition to preview with students, or as a blank chart for students to generate their own picture and definition.

    • Text Features: Either matching captions and headings to the text, or sorting text features and explaining the importance of each.

    • Color-Coding: Students find text evidence by color coding the evidence in the text and then writing responses to short answer questions

    • Graphic Organizers: These are visual ways for students to show comprehension of each passage while working on their summarizing skills.

    • Interactive Graphic Organizers: These are a cut, glue, fold, and write 2-page graphic organizer. They are similar to the graphic organizers above, while allowing students to let their creativity shine.

    • Crossword: This is for vocabulary reinforcement after reading the terms in context.

    • Venn Diagram: Every 2 passages offer an opportunity for students to practice comparing and contrasting. The only exceptions to this are the plants passages.

    • Many more activities vary by topic. Check out the preview to get a visual view of all the activities included for each topic!
