    Are you looking for engaging context clues reading passages practice for determining the meaning of unknown words for 5th and 6th grade? Rap music is your solution!

    Based on Black history rap songs, these activities will keep your students' attention using song lyrics to practice determining the meaning of unknown words. Easily incorporate them into independent activities or complete them together as a class lesson.

    Students will listen to the songs then use the song lyrics as reading passages that have many content-vocabulary words for practicing context clues skills.

    Kids love music and will certainly enjoy inferring the meaning of vocabulary words in these songs and activities. These activities also feature simple explanations of what context clues are and highlight clues from the passages to guide students' comprehension.

    Multiple-choice questions with answer keys!

    All of these context clues activities have multiple-choice questions with answer keys for easy grading. *Note: the History of Jazz Music and Frederick Douglass activities feature multiple-choice and short-response questions.

    We've also included our context clues, graphic organizer which easily turns any passage into an extra activity. Use it for early finishers or just to give your students additional practice.
