Description
Design and Technology Lesson:
Unleashing Ingenuity: Forging Exceptional Mars Explorers through Design, Programming, and Trials.
About Lesson:
In this lesson, we'll explore crafting unique Mars exploration robots through tailored programming. The tool enables diverse instructions for exceptional robots. You'll translate paper designs into digital models, refine the robot's response to challenges, test its performance in Mars-like conditions, and assess building skills. By lesson end, you'll excel in rover design, programming, and hands-on construction, ready for the challenges of Martian terrain.
WALTs:
•Use design ideas from previous rovers to help design your own rover.
• Draw your own rover using the components provided.
• Design your rover using the software.
•Test your rover in the missions.
•Record your data from the missions.
Evaluate your rover.
WILFs:
•Research existing rovers that have been developed for space exploration.
•Design a Mars rover based on components available.
•Evaluate a design of a rover created you’ve created.
•Build your Mars rover within the software.
•Test your rover over a series of challenges and adjust as needed.
•Create your rover from recycled materials as a 3D model.
•Evaluate your rover based on its strengths and weakness.
Required Resources (also labelled in the PPT): glue guns, glue, Paper straws, recycled materials, computers/ devices.
Use of Twinkle robotics software
Student files provided to distribute to the students digitally or physically.
4 stages to the lesson include: Design, Software, Create, Evaluation.
