Description
My students LOVE this hands-on project! It gives them the opportunity to use their knowledge on infants to create an age-appropriate toy!
This project takes my high school students three days to complete -- we have 70 minutes class periods. Instead of presenting their toys, my students participate in a gallery walk where they walk around to interact each toy.
What's Included?
1. Group Sign-Up Sheet
- This will help you keep track of who is in which group!
2. Rubric
- The rubric includes step-by-step directions, along with instructions of when to check in with their teacher. It includes expectations on:
- 3D model
- Specification sheet
- Advertisement poster
- Work time
3. Specification Sheet
- Basic description
- How their toy helps with a baby's development
- Safety

4. 3D Model Student Examples
Materials
Since students will be creating a prototype of their infant toy, you will need to supply some materials to make this happen. You can supply whatever you would like, but here is what I typically provide:
- cardboard boxes
- paint
- colored duct tape
- glue (hot glue works best)
- construction paper
If I'm feeling fancy, I provide:
- googly eyes
- yarn
- pipe cleaners
