What educators are saying

Another big hit for my students! Students enjoyed thinking through the project and drawing pictures. These are great for "lazy" teaching days, subs and days when a lot of students are absent.
We used this as an end of the year activity! It was fun and creative. Some students used this for Google Slides and some used this for a paper writing activity!

Description

Embark on an engaging journey where creativity and persuasive writing seamlessly intertwine! Inspired by your students' unwavering passion for video games, this resource presents a unique opportunity for them to delve into the academic exploration of this beloved medium.

Within this resource, students assume the role of visionary game designers as they craft their very own video game, accompanied by a meticulously hand-drawn mock-up that breathes life into their imaginative creation. With careful planning, articulate explanations, and a captivating visual representation of their game, students will then venture into the realm of persuasive writing, crafting a pitch that will enthrall the discerning owners of the video game company.

This endeavor not only refines their writing skills but also nurtures their creative thinking, empowering them to innovate and effectively communicate their ideas. Get ready to witness the exhilarating fusion of imagination and academia as your students embark on this captivating writing adventure, bridging their passion for video games with their academic growth.

Extension Ideas:

Have students give their pitches in front of the class and have the class vote on a winner. The student with the most votes will get their video game funded (aka win a prize)!

Have students lay their mock ups and pitches out as a gallery walk. Give students fake money and have them walk around and read each pitch/view each mock up. Students will lay their money on the video game that they think should get funded. The student with the most money wins!

A Powerpoint file is included so that you can alter this assignment to fit your students' needs!
