Description

Your students will design their own coat of arms in this project perfect for units on the Middle Ages/Medieval History! This project is also terrific as an all about me activity as students use their creativity to design a coat of arms that has symbolic representations of them!

This resource includes a:

  • Background reading on coats of arms and their purpose and the study of heraldry
  • Guide sheet with information on the meaning behind animals, colors, and symbols in heraldic coats of arms
  • Graphic organizer worksheet that students can use to plan the symbols and colors of their coat of arms
  • Series of coats of arms templates in varying patterns and sizes
  • Letter writing activity

This activity encourages creative thinking! All pages are provided in both color and black and white versions. The finished coats of arms look great as classroom poster decorations.
