Description
This is an audio file that guides students through a spatial representation of relationships of deep time. Students are told that each of their steps represent 1000 years, and they walk out periods of time and mark key points, according to the audio instructions. Students will gain an understanding of the scale of 65,000 years of continuing First Nations culture in comparison with the occupation of Australia by Europeans. It should be an elucidating and immersive activity, designed to improve comprehension of what is commonly an incomprehensible timescale for year sevens.
It will need to be initiated outdoors or with sufficient space. Students will need to have access to the file via phones on iPad, which may be shared between a group of students if necessary.
