Description

Designed to provide teachers with a research-based resource for early readers, these digraph cards provide decoding and encoding practice with short vowel words containing the digraphs CH, SH, TH, and CK (CCVC and CVCC words). These cards are ideal for reading groups, small group intervention, literacy centers, and even parent volunteers.

You Will Receive:

•70 Colorful Decoding Cards; each card includes the printed digraph word, colorful blending dots, and an arrow

•CH Digraph: 13 Cards

•SH Digraph: 19 Cards

•TH Digraph: 10 Cards

•CK Digraph: 28 Cards

•16 Colorful Encoding Cards (4 cards per digraph); each card includes a colorful graphic and boxes for writing the corresponding word

•For your printing convenience, a black and white version is included for each set!

Implementation:

•Print, cut, and laminate the cards for durability.

•Cards can be assembled by hole-punching the top left corner and placing on a book ring. You could also keep them “loose” and store in a pencil box or basket. Feel free to separate the cards by digraph or keep them mixed up based on your own preference/needs of students.

•Utilize these cards during your reading groups. These cards would also make a great center activity. Students should point to the green dot, then yellow, and last red as they say each sound (phoneme) in the word. They should then run their finger along the arrow as they blend the phonemes to read the digraph word.

•The encoding (spelling) cards are a perfect word work activity and also great for small groups. You can either cut and laminate the cards, or place the full sheets in sheet protectors. Students can use dry erase markers to write the corresponding letters in the boxes.
