Description

Designed to provide teachers with a research-based resource for early readers, these roll and read pages provide decoding practice with short vowel, CVC words. These decodable pages are ideal for small group instruction and intervention, independent work, centers, or to send home for extra reading practice. You will receive a total of 3 roll and read pages for each short vowel, as well as 5 pages that contain a mix of all short vowels (20 pages total). The short vowel of focus is noted at the top of each page. Each page contains 6 boxes. Each box is comprised of 3 short vowel, consonant-vowel-consonant words and a game die graphic (18 decodable words per page). After rolling the game die, students will read the list of short vowel CVC words in the corresponding box. The words are appropriate for beginning readers, and will encourage decoding practice. The skill of decoding is critical to the development of reading proficiency. Continued practice with decoding will positively impact the ability to read fluently and comprehend the text.

You can print and laminate the pages, or place printed pages in a sheet protector for durability.

I hope this activity pack serves as a great supplement to your reading instruction! Please contact me with any questions!
