great resource to use with her intervention lesson. i could see how it could be useful for at-home reading practice.
Love this resource! There aren't many Spanish resources, so thank you for this! I use it to reinforce fluency during my small group, especially with my students who need that extra support.

Description

This 111-page resource features a very systematic way to teach students to read in Spanish.

To read the first passage, students only need to learn 3 letters. Each passage adds another letter and reviews previous letters, so students can learn to read while learning or reviewing letter sounds. This explicit teaching and review follows the science of reading research and is best for all students, especially students with dyslexia.

The first letters are letters that are pronounced the same in English and Spanish (with the exception of the vowels).

There are no images in the document in order to limit distractions and prevent students from guessing.

These passages can be used alone but will be most effective if used with the games and lessons.

Each passage also comes with the option to have students illustrate the passage to show their understanding and an option with comprehension questions.

Why are these passages so powerful?

  • Students do not need to know all letter sounds to begin.
  • Students review already-learned letter sounds.
  • Students are forced to decode, rather than guess.
  • Passages contain basic syllables to help students feel successful.
