WHAT'S INCLUDED:
- 62 decodable sentence worksheets that follow IMSE OG+ Scope and Sequence.
- Included are CVC, Short Vowels, Digraphs, Beginning and Ending Blends, FLOSS, Long Vowels, Compound Words, Y as A Vowel, Suffixes, Hard/Soft C and G, Vowel Teams, Diphthongs, Bossy R, and other combinations.
- Each worksheet includes 6 sentences with an accompanying bright picture to match. That's a total of 362 decodable sentences!
How to Use Worksheets:
We love these worksheets because the sentences actually make sense and carry meaning. The words are intentionally chosen to practice new skills, while also reinforcing previously taught skills.
And not only are kids practicing decoding skills, but they're building vocabulary, fluency & comprehension!
We suggest beginning this activity by folding the pictures under so that only the sentences are visible. After the first reading, kids can then use the pictures to confirm what the words tell them.
These worksheets can be used independently, in small groups, in a whole group, or sent home for homework to reinforce the skills.
You can also gamify the experience. Have kids cut apart the sentences into strips and pull them out of a hat or container. Kids can read the sentence and then find the matching picture. Kids can even use a timer to encourage re-reading and build fluency.
