Decimal Place Value Slides and Activities: Standard, Word, and Expanded Form

This Decimal Place Value Unit is the perfect way to teach your students how to read and write decimals in standard, word, and expanded form.

Students will learn how to:

1. Recognize that a digit in one place is 10 times as much as it represents in the place to its right and 1/10 of what it represents to its left.
2. Read and write decimals in standard, word, and expanded form.

This lesson is scaffolded, so it starts off by reviewing whole number place value before introducing students to the beginning of Powers of 10 in order to help them understand place value to the tenths, hundredths, and thousandths place.
