Description

This is a powerpoint guide to facilitate your students' debate -- either in person debate or digital debate. This template incorporates two texts: "Danger of a Single Story" by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie - Ted Talk (linked) and Jesus Colon's "Little Things are Big" short story (linked via CommonLit). The template is designed to facilitate a two-sided debate with two groups of students but can easily be adapted for more than two groups. The template walks students through all parts of the debate, including debate prep, opening statements, attack-defense rounds, note taking, and closing statements. You can easily link in your own texts and prompts. This is a great tool for student-centered learning, instructional dialogue, and student engagement.
