Debate Graphic Organizers

Includes five different resources for classroom debates...

Two graphic organizers for students to use during the research and preparation process. These include sections for the group to write down their argument and supporting reasons/facts, organize how they want to present their argument, and write down notes during the debate for their rebuttal. (One is a little more detailed and complex, and one is simpler, for younger students or shorter debates!)

Two student scoring rubrics to help keep the audience engaged while other groups are debating. These forms have the students in the audience rate the presenting groups, then share their own opinion about the debate topic.

One teacher scoring rubric. Includes sections on "respect for other team," "presentation," "organization," "use of facts/evidence," "rebuttal," and "teamwork/participation." Also includes a space for teacher comments and a final grade. Can be used for each individual student, or to score the group as a whole.
