Description

Spaniard David Lario Loyo is a Space Physicist specializing in Heliophysics research at Johns Hopkins University (extension activity: view his YouTube video, "Between the Sun and the Earth.") Spanish news media outlets were exceptionally interested in the recent launch of a project he was involved with, The Parker Probe (launched in August 2018).

The Parker Probe will travel ever closer to the sun over the course of several years, collecting data as it travels where no other ship has traveled before.

This lesson encourages students to amplify their Spanish vocabulary related to science by reading about the Parker Probe, by listening to an interview with David Lario and by discussing the practical applications for this NASA study.

In this comprehensible-input-style lesson plan you will find an infographic, links to news articles, a link to a radio interview, a list of key vocabulary terms (explained in Spanish) and more.
