What educators are saying

This is perfect for students who are struggling with CER. I have a few who are mastery level CER writers but most are struggling. This really helped those who were struggling.
This is a nice little reading passage that explains how the finches got their beaks. The students found it interesting.

Description

Students dive into the engaging informational text about Charles Darwin's journey to the Galapagos Islands where he found evidence of adaptation and evolution! Reading passage gives students background information about Darwin and the creatures he encountered on the islands that provided sound evidence of adaptation and evolution. Students complete comprehension questions after reading the text.

Next, students construct a claim, evidence, reasoning (CER) based on Darwin's findings. Students are guided through each step of the process using graphic organizers, science sentence starters for correct format, and a classroom poster that clearly explains their task. Students collect all evidence from the informational text and a beautiful full-color diagram of Darwin's finches.

Science sentence starter poster included as well as a writing rubric and answer key!

Classroom CER poster set!
