Description
Note: This product is for use with Promethean ActivInspire software and Promethean boards.
I use these "Quick Write" prompts with my students every morning as they arrive. It is a great way to get the day started because many students arrive at different times, but everyone knows exactly what to do each day. The expectation is that students are writing a paragraph.
After five to ten minutes, I invite the students to stand and share if they wish. Students who do are rewarded using our classroom behavior management system. This activity only takes about 15 minutes a day and it allows the students to practice writing, listening, and speaking. It also helps us get to know one another.
Quick Write examples include:
"What is the most important invention of all time, and why?"
"Pretend you are a tour guide in your city. Where would you take tourists, and why?"
"I am most proud of myself for..."
The first three slides have sample responses I created to help students understand what I'm looking for with a quick write. Many of the prompt ideas came from FREE calendars provided by Lakeshore Learning Store. You can find them here:

Enjoy! :)
