    DRAMA GAMES
45 fun middle school theater games and activities will keep even the biggest and most rambunctious drama classes busy and entertained. These drama games and activities will nurture life-long skills while supplying lesson-long fun for your grades 5-8 students!
-- The games strengthen a variety of essential drama skills, using the voice, body, team collaboration, and even memory.
-- They range from improv warm-up games for individuals and teams, to scene creation, to games that can be played to hone skills while the class is rehearsing a play.

-- Some games last a few minutes, while others (depending on the size of your class) could take a whole lesson.
-- Some of these games are frequently used ones, but most (hopefully!) will be completely new to you. They all have one thing in common: FUN!
-- The resource ends with a Readers’ Theater Script. This script is a middle school drama class mystery that your students first read aloud, then collaborate to solve the drama class whodunit.
ALL GAMES AND ACTIVITIES ARE STUDENT TESTED AND APPROVED!

    Teacher prep
Most of the games do not require ANY teacher prep. A few of the games use topic cards, giving you, for example, enough dramatic scenes and situations for each group in the class to have a different one. If you copy them onto card stock, or laminate them, they will last until your retirement party.

    This resource contains
-- 21 Warm up games for individuals
-- 10 Warm up games for teams

    -- 7 Scene creation activities
-- 7 Play rehearsal warm up games
    -- Readers' Theater Mini-Mystery Script.

    DRAMA TIME FILLERS
These 20 fun drama activities are precious sanity savers! This no-prep drama time fillers resource heals a horror experienced by all middle school and high school teachers. It is last block of the day and your beautifully planned lesson has finished...but the block hasn’t! There is another 10 minutes to go- yikes! When you have this drama teacher survival kit at the ready you can quieten even the most rambunctious classes on Friday afternoon. The 20 activities in this resource will calm your classes, rather than rev them up, as acting games often do. Unscrambling drama words, performing drama writing (such as creating a dice roll plot synopsis), hand drawing a drama word cloud- all of these activities will keep your students thinking about drama, even when they are not acting! Only ONE activity has to be photocopied: the drama word search.

    How to use this resource

The simplest way to use the resource is to put the activity instructions on your screen and allow the students to read the guidelines of each activity themselves. Most of the easy to follow instructions are directly addressed to the student, explaining to them what to do. There are a few activities where you will probably want to verbally announce what the class should do, and in that case the heading of the page reads, in capitals, TEACHER GUIDELINES.
