What educators are saying

Thank you for creating a great resource! I love how these are decodable and progressively include most taught sounds. I have used the sentence strips with confident readers and have used the satpin cvc words for saptin fluency for those requiring further support.
My students love this resource! They love to read and this is a great fast-finisher activity for my students! We also sometimes used in reading groups. Much love.

Description

This resource includes 84 decodable reading strips in 4 fonts: Sassoon, Vic Cursive, Qld Beginners and NSW. There is a clear key that states what sounds are included in each colour section of this resource. It might not follow your letter sound order perfectly but slot them into your take home boxes where they are suitable! They are also great for teachers aides, small groups, literacy groups etc.

Simply print, laminate and cut these reading strips up and add them to your classroom take home reader collection. Decodable texts are very expensive to purchase, therefore I have made these to bulk up your collection, to go alongside the many decodable books out there on the market. It allows students to read a variety of words and improve their blending, automatic and fluency. Follow the easy to read key to know what sounds are in each colour section. Parents love these as they are quick, simple to use and still allow students to work on their reading skills. It is great for vocabulary building as families can talk about words and their meanings. They can also great for teachers to listen to beginning readers blend words in a time effective way! Please note: These are single sounds only- as well as ck, ss, ll, ff, zz.

Many of these words are CVC however their are several strips with beginning and end blends. I have found these great for beginning readers in Prep/ Kindy/ Foundation/ Reception.

I hope you find these decodable strips useful.

Thanks,

Meg
