Start with Evidence and analyze the clues to match while solving the Case of Ellie The Missing Beagle Detective!

Multi-Step word problems feature conversions from feet to inches, inches to feet, feet to yards, yards to feet, and inches to yards. 

A great activity for an academic Fun Friday or just a memorable day in Math Class!

This fun and highly engaging activity will motivate your class while getting a ton of real life word problems featuring measurement conversion practice in! Students will use their math skills to solve the Disappearance of Ellie the Detective Beagle! 

Junior Detectives (Students) will analyze the evidence files to solve the clues. Each file contains three clues from the three suspects that were apprehended. Each of the suspects has a story for where they were, but one of them had to be the dog nabber! 

There is no order of the files, so Jr. Detectives can start at any file to begin cracking the case with their detective team! Each of the Jr. Detectives will fill out a clue log, and each team will complete their investigation journal. 

Jr. Detectives can then check their investigation journal with the Lead Detective (YOU), or they can enter their information into the database (a google form) to reveal the true identity of the Dog Nabber! 

With a little prep, you can transform your classroom to a squad room full of junior detectives solving the case of Missing: Ellie the Beagle Detective!

5.NBT.5: Fluently Multiply multi-digit numbers using standards algorithm

5.MD.A.1 Convert among different size standard measurement units within a given measurement system, and use these conversions in solving multi-step, real world problems.
