What educators are saying

I loved using this product with my students in lieu of a test. My students were engaging with these project from the beginning and I loved the final projects there were able to create.
This was such a fun project! My students did this and a shoebox biome. Parents got to come and see our Critter Cafe, it was a great way to wrap up our ecosystem unit!

Description

This is a fun activity for students to learn more about a chosen ecosystem and food web. Students create a tri-fold restaurant menu with prices, food names (examples: Plankton Tea and Great White Chowder), and a picture of the food web using resources. This project encourages creativity while learning science. My students are always excited to complete this project and share with their fellow classmates.

The following is included in this PDF:

NGSS5-LS2-1
Develop a model to describe the movement of matter among plants, animals, decomposers, and the environment. Emphasis is on the idea that matter that is not food (air, water, decomposed materials in soil) is changed by plants into matter that is food. Examples of systems could include organisms, ecosystems, and the Earth. Assessment does not include molecular explanations.
NGSS5-PS3-1
Use models to describe that energy in animals’ food (used for body repair, growth, motion, and to maintain body warmth) was once energy from the sun. Examples of models could include diagrams, and flow charts.
