    • FIVE genre introduction presentation files that address the definitions and structures of each genre, the characteristics of heroes, villains, literary elements and devices prominent to each genre, and MUCH MORE
    • Presentation note-taking handouts (w/ answer keys)
    • FOUR short stories by Richard Post (written exclusively for The Language of Educational Art) and 34 accompanying response questions (w/ answer keys) designed to further your students' understanding of the structure and thematic concepts found in literary works
    • A mystery writing planning packet that includes the short story "The Pearl Necklace" (with guiding questions and answer key), notes on the elements of strong mystery writing, and a step-by-step guide to planning an original mystery story
    • A "news tragedy" analysis activity that asks students to evaluate the "tragic" qualities of an included news story and test their new understanding of literary tragedy (great for group work!)
    • 4 drafting activities with accompanying rubrics
    • FOUR literary analysis essay assignments that build on students' thematic understanding of how genre narratives are structured (40 points - tied to 4 Common Core Standards)
    • Narrative map templates that assist students in selecting their own stories' settings, heroes, character arcs, villains, conflicts, and MUCH MORE (almost no writing required!)
    • Narrative outline activities that allows students to take their maps' visual guidelines and begin drafting their own narratives
