What educators are saying

This resource really helped my kids grasp the concept that we were learning! It had many different opportunities for learning the content.

    Description

Narrative writing prompts with photos for reluctant writers and writers of all abilities in 4th, 5th, 6th, and 7th grade. Here is a BUNDLE of 40 no prep (or laminate to use again) printable full-page cards in PDF format, or you can assign them as digital activities with Easel. These imaginative story starters, covering a range of subjects and genres, feature a high-quality visual stimulus, word bank, first sentence or part sentence, sentence starters, and prompt questions to get ideas flowing. Ideal for the whole class as regular warm up activities, daily quick writes, morning work, early finisher challenges, homework tasks, main writing lessons, sub lessons, some special education (SPED) contexts, and dyslexia intervention. Please check the two preview files to assess suitability of these story writing prompts for your students.

This BUNDLE includes these 2 packets, which can also be purchased separately:

    Creative Writing Prompts 1

    Creative Writing Prompts 2

    • There are 20 full-page prompt cards in each of the 2 packets, making 40 in total
    • Use them to inspire a whole story, or maybe just a few creative sentences without worrying about completing a story
    • The cards feature a dyslexia-friendly font and clear layout
    • Laminate to use again and again
    • Originally designed with Upper Elementary and Middle School students in mind, but might suit others
    • All prompts are included with and without background color. The version with the background color can reduce glare for dyslexic students. However, if you would prefer an eco-printing option, use the version without the background color. If you have dyslexia-friendly colored paper, you could print the non-background version on this instead.
    • U.S. spelling is used but additional U.K. spelling versions are included at the end of the files with a small number of amendments (these also use "full stop" in the checking box instead of "period" that is used in the U.S. version). The checking box at the bottom of each card reminds students to read their work aloud and check for periods, capital letters, and common spellings
    • Covers a range of subjects and genres including sport, mystery, humor, adventure, science fiction, and fantasy - students can choose those that appeal to them
    • Teacher notes and a guide to the prompts is included at the start of the 2 files
