Creative Writing: Where in the World Task Cards:
Students will use clues and deductive reasoning in this engaging creative thinking activity! Students will identify one location that is best represented with the clues, through deductive reasoning. A constructed response requires students to explain their thinking. Students will choose one card to develop a creative story with the author's purpose to persuade, inform, or entertain.

Create-a-Toy:
Students will use various blocks to create a prototype for a toy company. They will create an advertisement- print, video, or demonstration, for the toy competition.

This strategy increases higher order thinking. It can be used on its own, or incorporated into curriculum units. It can be used as a brain break for 20 minutes, or over the course of several days.
Students choose an object- either tangible or a photograph- and they think creatively to change the original idea into something new! You can differentiate the activity by having students complete a specified number of components of SCAMPER.
