Support literacy by having the students read challenging expository texts and writing concise prose and poetry to demonstrate their meaning and historical context. Use all of the students’ creativity in learning history through art, poetry, and performance. Show students the creative nature of history as a discipline and turn them into apprentice historians reading, writing, speaking, and listening in the discipline. Includes examples of projects, primary sources, maps, poetry, and lecture ideas. Projects available on Creative-History site.
