Description

This assignment is perfect for Grade 4 - 8 students learning figurative language and descriptive writing. Students will experience real-world applications to their learning by designing a menu for a restaurant, describing menu items using figurative language and writing a descriptive paragraph about the restaurant (sensory details). This is a printable and digital, no-prep resource that provides students with mentor paragraphs for mini-lessons and organizers to help scaffold the learning for topics like sensory details, figurative language and adjectives/adverbs.

At the end, you can set up a "Restaurant Tour" in your classroom where your students become food critics and read through other menus, selecting their favourite dish from each table!
