What educators are saying

This such a great resource!! It is a fun way to integrate social studies and literacy. The variety of the graphic organizers and the choice and voice offered in the project is awesome. My students enjoyed learning about different countries around the world.
My students love project based learning! They are so engaged and learn so much more in this format.

Instructions on how to use this in a classroom:

I start off by allowing students to choose one country to study. I do not allow students to choose the same country as someone else. You may use the country selection page in this packet.

Students then use the internet and library books to gather information in their graphic organizers which can also be found in this packet.

Once they have their facts they begin their pre-write on a separate lined piece of paper. I have my students do 5 different essays, the topics go along with the 5 “Chapter” pages included in this packet: People and Places, History, Lifestyle, Society, and Culture and Fast Facts.

The next step is the self and peer edit. You can use the page included at the end of this packet. After the peer edits, I also do a quick teacher edit.

The students are now ready for publishing. There is a title page, “chapter” dividers, and pages for the written report to be published on.

When they are finished with the writing I also have my students do a hand-drawn flag and map, write a traditional recipe, and finally, make a travel brochure. All of which are included in this packet.

There is also a rubric at the end of this packet to grade the writing portion of this project.
