Description
SEL Tools for Anxiety & Depression: I was inspired to create this SEL resource when my own 11 year old son started experiencing anxiety and low self esteem. I wanted to give him actionable steps he could use to recognize negative thought patterns and change them. I also added Part 2. It addresses falling asleep and the anxiety people tend to feel before going to bed. This resource has helped my son, and I hope it will do the same for the children in your life.
This resource is designed to give students ages 9 – 16 tools to help ward off depression and anxiety. It focuses on metacognition (thinking about thinking), self regulation, and guided relaxation.
I have provided a video, note taking worksheets that go along with the video, and printable reference cards (pages 5 & 6). During note taking, it may be helpful to pause the video occasionally.
** The additional progressive relaxation YouTube video can not be accessed within the video. Instead, you can access the link on the first page of the supplemental download.
