Description

Do you need more EMERGENT READERS for your students? You can combine MATH SKILLS and READING with this CUTE COOKIES EMERGENT READER with TEN FRAMES 0-20 and NUMBER WORDS! This resource is great for anytime of the year. It could be used for December and Christmas for Santa's cookies!

This resource includes two different versions of the book. The first version is for reading the sentences with number words that match the ten frames on the page. The second version has a "fill in the blank" for students to write the numeral or number word to match the ten frames shown on each page. The ten frames have cookie graphics to fill the spaces.

This reader focuses on ten frames and numbers 0-20. This 44 page book is designed so that you can copy the book, cut it in half, staple, and then it is ready for use.

There are two versions of the book with 22 pages each. The 22 pages include a title page “Count the Cookies” then each of the remaining 21 pages contains black and white pictures with a ten frame at the top of each page with graphics in the ten frames matching the sentence and a sentence under the picture: I see (number words zero-twenty) cookies and a second version is exactly the same except that each page says: I see __________cookies. In this second version, students are to look at the ten frames and write the missing number word or numeral in the blank to match the number of graphics in each ten frame(s).

Look at the preview to see each page included.

Students can benefit from this reader by tracking print, identifying spaces between words, identifying particular letters of the alphabet, recognizing sounds (beginning, middle, and ending) in each word, and reading sight words and grade level text. For extension activities, students could add another sentence to each page to add details. The black and white pictures allow students the opportunity to color the pictures. This reader is great for guided reading groups, homework, or literacy center activities. It also includes math standards with a ten frame on each page with a matching number of graphics.

The PREVIEW shows all pages included.

Standards

to see state-specific standards (only available in the US).
Write numbers from 0 to 20. Represent a number of objects with a written numeral 0-20 (with 0 representing a count of no objects).
Understand the relationship between numbers and quantities; connect counting to cardinality.
When counting objects, say the number names in the standard order, pairing each object with one and only one number name and each number name with one and only one object.
Understand that the last number name said tells the number of objects counted. The number of objects is the same regardless of their arrangement or the order in which they were counted.
Count to answer “how many?” questions about as many as 20 things arranged in a line, a rectangular array, or a circle, or as many as 10 things in a scattered configuration; given a number from 1-20, count out that many objects.
