What educators are saying

My students were engaged in these activity, because it has variety of asking questions not only for mastery skills but it developed their critical thinking because some cards have tricky questions.
This resource truly helped my students understand how to convert customary units of length. It was pretty tricky at first. Thank you!!

Description

If your students struggle with converting customary to metric measurements, they need lots of opportunity for practice. These task cards are the perfect tool for students to use in order to practice a wide variety of measurement concepts including: converting between inches, feet, yards, and miles; converting between kilometers, meters, centimeters, and millimeters; solving multi-step word problems and more!

I love to use task cards in a whole group setting by displaying them on my whiteboard using my document camera. As a class, we discuss a few of the cards and solve them together. This allows students the chance to become familiar with the format. Task cards can easily be used in a math center or a fun game of Scoot! For fast finishers or students needing extra practice, laminate the cards and put them on a ring so students can practice independently.

This resource includes: 24 varied measurement task cards, a student recording sheet, and an answer sheet. This product features only black ink on the cards in order to save on ink costs!

My students LOVE using task cards in the classroom, and I hope yours do as well! Please feel free to contact me with any questions about this product or my store at: mypinkclipboard@gmail.com.

Know relative sizes of measurement units within one system of units including km, m, cm; kg, g; lb, oz.; l, ml; hr, min, sec. Within a single system of measurement, express measurements in a larger unit in terms of a smaller unit. Record measurement equivalents in a two-column table. For example, know that 1 ft is 12 times as long as 1 in. Express the length of a 4 ft snake as 48 in. Generate a conversion table for feet and inches listing the number pairs (1, 12), (2, 24), (3, 36),...
Use the four operations to solve word problems involving distances, intervals of time, liquid volumes, masses of objects, and money, including problems involving simple fractions or decimals, and problems that require expressing measurements given in a larger unit in terms of a smaller unit. Represent measurement quantities using diagrams such as number line diagrams that feature a measurement scale.
