Description

Teach students the basic skills for having a conversation with these structured activities that build on reading, writing, and speaking to learn about and practice asking questions and making comments to have a conversation.

Included Materials:

* Let's Chat Booklet - Read about what a conversation is and how to have one. Comes in color and black & white.

* Conversations: Write About It Worksheet - Show understanding of what goes into a conversation by filling out this worksheet.

* Topic Memory Game - Play memory with 15 pairs of topic cards to practice generating questions about those topics.

* Topic Webs - Use these webs to brainstorm 5 questions about a the 15 topics introduced in the memory game.

* Scenerio Webs - Use these webs to identify what the topic is based on a scenerio and then brainstorm 5 questions about that topic.

* Follow-Up Task Cards - Use these task cards to practice generating follow-up questions.

* Commenting Task Cards - Use these task cards to identify comments that can be used for different scenerios.

* Topic Journal - Use the journal to brainstorm and record questions that can be asked for the 15 topics introduced in the memory game and refer back to it during conversation practice.

* Structured Conversation Scripts - These scripts provide topics with specific questions and comments for a student to use when practicing conversations.

* Fill-In Conversation Script - This script allows for students to pick their topic and fill-in the questions they want to ask before they use the script to engage in a conversation.

* Conversation Cue Cards - These cards can be used to cue a student or the student can use them to cue themselves during conversation practice.

* Conversation Cuing Strips - These cuing strips can be used to cue a student or the student can use them to cue themselves during conversation practice.
