Description

How can you get your students to move from computer science newbies to confident coders? This computer coding resource will help you teach your students to analyze a task, plan an algorithm, and translate their plan into code.

Get all the Intro to Computer Science resources here and SAVE!

The lesson starts with unplugged computer coding worksheets. Your students will engage in a fun exploration of writing instructions for a “robot” mouse to solve a simple maze. Then they will practice writing algorithms and creating flowcharts to represent the step-by-step procedure. Next, your students will translate their plan into a computer program using coding language. Finally, the young computer scientists will put their coding skills to the test by solving online puzzles using code.

This lesson is perfect for introducing new computer science students to coding. Whether you are starting a computer science course or celebrating Computer Science Education Week, this resource will help you build your students' foundational coding skills and develop good coding habits that will help them as they move on to more challenging computer science concepts.

Note: Your students will need some basic knowledge of computer science, including how to write algorithms and create flowcharts before diving into this lesson.
