Complete Sentences Rubric (For Writing Complete Sentences in All Content Areas)

I created this rubric to assess students on their proper use of sentences in all their work. In the particular year I created this, I was having a tough time getting students to write complete and thorough sentences in content areas outside of Language and Writing. I now have this in the students' folders at the beginning of each year, and they know that I may assess their writing with this on any assignment at any time.

This assesses four different areas: complete sentences, capitalization, punctuation, and spelling. Each area is also built to assess smaller topics. For instance, spelling addresses the correct spelling of spelling words, vocabulary words, and commonly used homophones.

This works very well for my class and is something I continue to use often. Let me know how it works for you:-)
