What educators are saying

This bundle was wonderful for beginning our fractions units. I love how everything is laid out and includes I can statements.
My students felt this was much more straightforward for helping them learn equivalent fractions. I liked how there were slides to help teach the concept and that the homework matched the format of the problem set so they could work on them independently.

Description

This Fourth Grade Math Comparing Fractions Unit is designed to be teacher and student-friendly with math lessons and activities that are fun, engaging, and easy to prep. Whether you are looking for a stand-alone curriculum or a supplement to your required school curriculum, this comprehensive unit has everything you need to teach fourth grade standards with ease.

Not all math curriculum is awful. Just sum. Ba-da-bum!

But when it is bad, it is very, very bad. And unfortunately, a lot of traditional math curriculum is very, very bad. It’s overly complex, too long, impossible to differentiate, difficult to manage, and, frankly, not much fun. It can be hard to wade through all the extras and find the most valuable parts of the lesson. You don’t have time to read dozens of pages in the teacher manual and there are way too many different pieces to prep. Ugh!

If that sounds like your math curriculum, you’re in luck. Because now you have an alternative that is very, very good. A math curriculum that you and your students will LOVE!

This Comparing Fractions Unit includes fun, engaging, and easy-to-prep lessons and hands-on activities. It is the perfect way to review essential math skills and get kids excited about math.

Explain why a fraction 𝘢/𝘣 is equivalent to a fraction (𝘯 × 𝘢)/(𝘯 × 𝘣) by using visual fraction models, with attention to how the number and size of the parts differ even though the two fractions themselves are the same size. Use this principle to recognize and generate equivalent fractions.
Compare two fractions with different numerators and different denominators, e.g., by creating common denominators or numerators, or by comparing to a benchmark fraction such as 1/2. Recognize that comparisons are valid only when the two fractions refer to the same whole. Record the results of comparisons with symbols >, =, or <, and justify the conclusions, e.g., by using a visual fraction model.
