Description

Students will compare and contrast the themes, settings and plots of stories written by the same author about similar or the same characters (RL.3.9).  This includes comparing/contrasting the main message (lesson) of the stories, the words and actions of main characters, and story elements such as problem and solution.

These reading comprehension worksheets have a mini-lesson and notes at the top to serve as an anchor, followed by two stories and several questions.  Tips are included next to some commonly asked questions to mentor students on how to best answer them.  Use as test prep, or to teach and practice the fundamentals of comparing and contrasting literature.
