Description

Excellent project for your high school science, environmental science, or biology course. This project based learning assignment asks students to work in a team to create a detailed proposal for how they would intend on using $10,000 if awarded to create a community garden. This project would require time management skills, team work, researching, writing, survey creating, presenting and reflecting. 

Use this project as a stand along assignment or for a midterm or final project for a course. This can be used as is or adapted to any course. 

This product contains 7 separate resources:

#1- Community Garden Grant Project- Assignment Sheet

  • 5 pages
  • Step detailed 7 which outlines the project (view the preview to see the first page of the sheet)
  • Includes (Introduction, what needs to be done/handed in, 7 steps, works cited space, projected class outlines, rubric (specific for this project)
  • This can be easily shared on Google or printed

#2-  Model of a Completed Written Proposal

  • Sample for step #4 (Written Proposal)
  • 3 pages
  • Another grant idea is used for the sample (not a garden project)

#3- Teacher Google Slides

  • 12 slides
  • "start here" slide with notes for how to use the products
  • Each step on individual slides that match the steps on the students assignment sheet, this breaks it down to more manageable units for explanation in class. 

#4- 5 min Pitch- Student Template for Google Slides

  • 9 Slides with pre labeled titles and instructions for what each slide should include in both the body of the slide
  • Additional explanations and question to helps students create their slides in the speaker notes
  • Just share with students and they complete

#5- Daily Progress Sheets

  • Sheets ask questions about what they accomplished in class today, what they have to do next, and if they have questions, comments or concerns.
  • Use the sheets to check progress, as a closure, to give a daily participation grade and to keep communication open

#6- Reflection Sheet

  • This product has 5 questions for students to respond to in a 1.5 page response after the completion of the project.
  • This can be easily shared on Google or printed, convenient boxes for responses either way

#7- Grant Proposal Voting Ballots

  • 3 voting strips on one doc
  • Print and cut
