What educators are saying

I naturally have "stilted" language and struggle making it kid-friendly. Students were as engaged as you can be about vocabulary, but I'm grateful for the help putting it in plain English.

Description

Easily reach your Common Core Language Standard 6 while helping prep your students for the PARCC test!

When I first saw the Common Core standards, I was overwhelmed. Not really because of WHAT they were asking me to teach, but because of HOW they were asking me. Words like "analyze" and "evaluate" are used when talking about sixth graders - how would I communicate what these terms mean to my students?

My first step was to create student-friendly charts that unpacked each standard in easy-to-read language (see my store to purchase this!)

With this product, I have created a way to truly focus on the terminology used in the standards. I have created a vocabulary study guide, teacher guide, quiz and answer key based on 20 verbs I found when reviewing the standards. I plan on using these words as our vocabulary terms for the first quarter. I want to truly implement Common Core vocabulary like "delineate" and "inference" in the classroom so when students see these terms on the test, they will understand exactly what is being asked.

Included in this Product:

2-page graphic organizer for students
2-page graphic organizer for teachers (here I have defined each term in student-friendly language, given examples of when each term would be used and added extra notes)
2-page quiz over the terms
1-page answer key for the quiz
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I teach 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th grade and have created charts for each grade level. Find them in my products!
