Common Core Reading: The Cherokee Story of "The First Strawberries"

You will need SMART Notebook software to use this file. This SMART Board presentation is a week-long unit (4 days of activities) focusing on the Cherokee legend of the first strawberries. This unit focuses upon Joseph Bruchac's book, "The First Strawberries: A Cherokee Story."

Common Core Standards addressed in this unit include: RL2.1, RL2.2, RL2.7, RL2.9.

Students will also learn about choosing books: by a favorite author or by a purpose for reading.

These slides can be printed and copied if you wish for your students to record their own answers or for you to use as a formative assessment.
