What educators are saying
Description
This printable worksheet/activity was written to address the following Common Core Informational Text Standards in Grades 2-4.
RI.2.9: Compare and contrast the most important points presented by two texts on the same topic.
RI.3.9: Compare and contrast the most important points and key details presented in two texts on the same topic.
RI.4.9: Integrate information from two texts on the same topic in order to write or speak about the subject knowledgeably.
Students read two different 120-word texts on having potbellied pigs as house pets. The articles have similarities and differences in facts and the authors' opinions. Students then compare and contrast the important points and key details in the two texts by completing six multiple-choice questions. This is followed by a writing activity where they demonstrate knowledge and integrate information from the texts to write a persuasive paragraph.
Please see the PREVIEW, which shows one of the texts used for teaching the standard and several question examples, to see if this printable might work for your students in meeting this key Common Core Standard.
