    Description

    Learning Targets

These Common Core State Standard aligned learning targets are a quick, easy and efficient way to help your students meet their daily learning objectives in Math. They are written in kid-friendly language, using I can statements, so that your students can easily understand exactly what it is that they will be learning and will be able to express it back to you. They also include some of the higher-level common core language that they will be hearing and using year after year.

    Convenient

What makes them so quick, easy and efficient? There’s no more searching for the objectives before each lesson…for EVERY subject…and trying to word them just right. They’re already done! It just takes one time of printing, cutting, laminating and labeling. Now they are ready to be used over and over again, year after year! This makes it super easy to just flip through the targets before your lesson, looking for your lesson number on the back. (If they are kept in order, you just take the one off the top and put the used one in the back!) Simply pull it out and post it for your students to see and now you can focus all of your time on the actual planning of your instruction!!

*If you are looking to go paperless or are in a distance learning and/or hybrid model, see below for the digital version of the learning targets.

    Easy

♦ Print each subject on different colored tagboard (I chose…Reading- yellow, Math- blue, Writing- purple, Speaking and Listening- green)

    ♦ Laminate and cut out

♦ Figure out which lessons from your Core program(s) coincide with which Common Core State Standards (it's usually right in the teacher's guides).

♦ Print the specific lesson numbers on sticky labels (i.e, 2-6) and place them on the back of each target (or write them with a sharpie); some targets having multiple lesson numbers on the back.

    Practical

The targets come in two forms so you can choose which works best for you and your students from year to year:

    • Smaller learning targets for lessons close to where you teach

    • Larger learning targets for students to see from longer distances around the room

    Editable

Both learning target versions (small and large) come with an editable template, so you can add or change the wording on any targets to meet the needs of your students or teaching style.

Depending on how you word the learning targets you would like to edit, there are two sets of editable templates included. One in a larger font for when you are using fewer words. One in a smaller font for when you are using more words.

Although an editable option is included, this resource is not fully editable. In order to protect my intellectual property with my copyright, included are blank templates for you to use.

    Target Symbols

Also included are target symbols for your learning targets to point to. They come in 13 different colors for both the small and large targets depending on which targets you chose to use.

Viola! You’re meeting your student’s needs, your professional requirements and putting the learning back into the hands of your students all with the snap of your fingers!

    Extras

Learning target symbols for your learning targets to point to. They come in:

    ♦ Small

    ♦ Large

    ♦ 13 different colors

Viola! You’re meeting your student’s needs, your professional requirements and putting the learning back into the hands of your students all with the snap of your fingers!

    ♥Success Criteria♥

Learning targets are an amazing way to help your students take ownership in their own learning process. But then what? Show your students exactly HOW they will be successful at meeting their daily, weekly or unit long objectives. Each of these ready to go success criteria are aligned to the Math Common Core State Standards for third grade. They explicitly tell and/or show your students different ways to be successful in meeting their learning targets. They come in both color and black and white, so you can choose what works best for you. They help your students understand each step in the process of meeting the specific standard they are working on.

    It’s as easy as 1-2-3

    ♦ Print out

    ♦ Laminate

♦ Post them up by your learning targets or objectives

Now they’re ready to be used over and over, year after year! The standard is written in the lower right corner, so it’s quick and easy to find your success criteria in seconds. No more spending tons of time trying to come up with what the success criteria will be or having to do it on the fly with your students. Now you can spend your time planning the actual instruction!

They can be used in many ways. You can:

♦ Post them on the wall next to your learning targets, standards or objectives

♦ Use it as a guide as you write them with your students

For something hands-on, shrink them down on the copier for students to have access to at their seats while they are working!!

    They're Editable

This resource comes with a color and black & white editable template. That way you have the option to make the success criteria a little more personal to your teaching style or needs based on the groups of students you have from year to year. Please note that the color, fonts and sizes are the same, but the alignment and other formatting may be different. The spacing between each criteria will vary based on how much text you include in each section. The editable criteria will be very similar, just not exactly identical.

    Standards

to see state-specific standards (only available in the US).
Tell and write time to the nearest minute and measure time intervals in minutes. Solve word problems involving addition and subtraction of time intervals in minutes, e.g., by representing the problem on a number line diagram.
Measure and estimate liquid volumes and masses of objects using standard units of grams (g), kilograms (kg), and liters (l). Add, subtract, multiply, or divide to solve one-step word problems involving masses or volumes that are given in the same units, e.g., by using drawings (such as a beaker with a measurement scale) to represent the problem.
Draw a scaled picture graph and a scaled bar graph to represent a data set with several categories. Solve one- and two-step “how many more” and “how many less” problems using information presented in scaled bar graphs. For example, draw a bar graph in which each square in the bar graph might represent 5 pets.
Generate measurement data by measuring lengths using rulers marked with halves and fourths of an inch. Show the data by making a line plot, where the horizontal scale is marked off in appropriate units-whole numbers, halves, or quarters.
Recognize area as an attribute of plane figures and understand concepts of area measurement.
