Description

What a Spooky way to introduce and review measurement!!

In this activity, your students will use candy corn to measure different Halloween related characters and record them on their activity page. I have used it in first and second grade. Each grade level standards activity is included.
The set includes:
-6 character cards
-Activity page - measuring with candy corn (non-standard measurement)
-Activity page - measuring with candy corn and rulers (non-standard and standard measurement)

I love to do Halloween center rotations on the actual day! It is a great partner activity as well!

Standards

to see state-specific standards (only available in the US).
Order three objects by length; compare the lengths of two objects indirectly by using a third object.
Express the length of an object as a whole number of length units, by laying multiple copies of a shorter object (the length unit) end to end; understand that the length measurement of an object is the number of same-size length units that span it with no gaps or overlaps.
Measure the length of an object by selecting and using appropriate tools such as rulers, yardsticks, meter sticks, and measuring tapes.
Measure the length of an object twice, using length units of different lengths for the two measurements; describe how the two measurements relate to the size of the unit chosen.
Measure to determine how much longer one object is than another, expressing the length difference in terms of a standard length unit.
