Combining Like Terms Activity: 30 Task Cards

Included in this set are 30 combining like terms task cards that have students combine like terms to simplify an expression, a student answer sheet, and an answer key. These combining like terms activity cards are all short answer questions.

There are multiple ways I use task cards in my classroom. Sometimes I have students pair up, sometimes I have students work alone, others we play a game I call “Speed Math”. When students work in pairs, I give each student a task card. Students then work together to simplify each expression. After a certain amount of time (2-3minutes) each group passes their cards to the next group. When I have students work on task cards by themselves, I pass out the task cards, then set a timer so that every 2minutes students pass their cards. These cards can also be used to play “Speed Math”. Directions for this game are at the end of the packet!

I have included a colored version of the cards and a black and white version!
