    Description

Give your students a basic introduction to college using the three NO-PREP interactive Google Slides presentations in this bundle:

    1) Is College Worth It?

    2) Types of College Degrees

    3) Types of Colleges

⭐️ Also includes a college terms word search!

⭐️ You save 20% when you buy this bundle instead of purchasing each product separately.

⭐️ Perfect for middle or high school AVID, Advisory, language arts, life skills, or CTE classes! Counselors can also use these presentations!

⭐️ Each product is a COMPLETE LESSON in one slide deck (similar to a Hyperdoc, which takes students through the learning cycle in one doc or slide deck using hyperlinks and other media). These products are perfect for using as differentiated, self-paced student-centered lessons or whole class teacher-paced presentations!

⭐️ You can use these slide decks/presentations in face-to-face instruction, virtual/distance learning, flipped learning, and/or blended learning.

FREE BONUS SLIDES: Socratic Seminar Lesson Plan included FREE when you purchase this bundle!

    IMPORTANT NOTES:

*EACH OF THESE PRODUCTS (slide decks/presentations) IS ALSO SOLD SEPARATELY!

*You do NOT have to allow access to your Google Drive for any of these products.

*While the slide decks have a lot of slides, they are easy to read and get through because each slide is visually stimulating and limited to one idea, and questions and places for answers are included in each slide deck (title, questions, and closing page are included in page count).

*The slides will open in Google Slides, but you could also download each presentation to PowerPoint without losing any of the formatting.

*Great for helping any students with college awareness and planning.

*The time it takes for each slide show will vary depending on how much discussion and other activities you include. You can get through one slide show in 30-45 minutes if you just lecture or you can make it more interactive and spend a few days on each, which I would suggest if it fits into your schedule.

⭐️ I highly recommend using my Socratic Seminar Lesson Plan (included free). If you do a Socratic Seminar with at least two of the topics (ideas included), assign 3-4 readings with each topic, and follow up (extend/elaborate) with the extension assignments, this entire bundle gives you enough material for at least two weeks!

⭐️ Get Socratic seminar tips on my blog: 10 Powerful Tips Every Teacher Needs to Have a Better Socratic Seminar.

⭐️ The best part is these are interactive presentations! e.g., Students can type their responses to the given questions directly on the slides (text boxes are already there) and get more information by clicking hyperlinks. You can also add your own links to a Google Form, Jamboard, Padlet, or another platform, or add PearDeck slides where students can share their answers.

⭐️ There is almost no prep needed to present the slides unless you decide to extend the lesson or add links/slides, but I have some ideas included to make it easy for you!

⭐️ I have put a lot of time into creating this product and hope you find it useful. If you have any questions, find any errors, or have suggestions, please email me directly so I can help you and improve this resource.

⭐️ The Google Slides lessons include everything a good lesson should have:

    • Explicit instruction: Lessons are direct and systematically chunked following a 5E lesson plan and guide students with a clear purpose/essential question, explanation, and supported practice/extension.
    • 21st-century skills: Students use media and technology literacy skills with these interactive Google Slides presentations and use critical thinking, collaboration, and communication with all the opportunities for discussion.
    • Multi-modalities and hands-on learning: Students view and/or listen to the presentations, write and talk about their learning in “think-write-pair-shares” and discussion groups, and possibly more depending on what you assign in the extension, such as producing an essay or video to demonstrate understanding and synthesizing ideas.
    • Differentiation: Depending on students’ levels, you could present to the class as a whole and/or assign students to view the slides independently or in small groups and answer the questions as you see fit.
    • Scaffolding: These complete lessons come in manageable parts, from activating prior knowledge to reflection and assessment, and can be teacher- or student-paced.
    • Higher levels of questioning: The discussion questions require higher-level thinking such as analysis, evaluation, and synthesis.
    • Real-life connection: The college and career-readiness topics and essential questions are meaningful and relevant to students’ futures.
    • Student choice: To add student choice, give students options of strategies, tools, and/or extension activities.

    SUGGESTIONS FOR USE:

    1. Present the slides in a face-to-face lecture OR through a video conference lecture by sharing your screen. To make your presentation more interactive and engaging (and less of a teacher-centered lecture), be sure to have students answer the questions and share their answers at the beginning and end of the presentation, stop to check comprehension, use peer teaching, and clarify or explain anything as needed.

    2. OR, you can just send the slides to your students by email or Google Classroom to work on independently or in small groups and type their answers on the slides, a Google Form, or a separate document -- whichever you prefer (make sure you make a copy for each student).

    3. Do some kind of combination of #1 and 2. For example, use the slides to present to the whole class and review the lesson, and then send the slides to students and allow them to work independently. You may also want to present to only part of the class, work one-on-one with some students, and let others work independently. You know your students and their needs best!

    4. Follow the lesson plan and see the extra ideas given in the product directions.
