College Career Ready Bundle: PBL Resume Builders for High School Students

This bundle includes project-based learning lesson plans that focus on resume builders for high school students.

All project experiences are student-directed. Students design and lead their resume-building project experiences while you facilitate. All resources are ready-made, mostly print-and-go, with templates that are super easy for you and your students to follow.

This bundle combines several self-directed project-based learning resources that give students the opportunity to boost those resumes in traditional ways, but also more unique ways that make students stand out among the rest.

Bundle Contents and Process:

• Students will start by exploring a career of interest.
• They will then build their resumes by starting a school club, learning a new skill, connecting with and shadowing a local business, starting and launching their own businesses, and/or planning and running a fundraiser.
• Finally, as a BONUS, students have access to a digital career portfolio. Inside they will find a resume template that they can build their resumes right into.

How to Use this Bundle:

• Class Type: I have students build their resumes by doing these learning activities in my advisory, college and career-building seminars, and senior seminars. The options are endless, those are just a few ideas.
• Timeframe: Each of the PBLs inside this bundle takes time because students are immersed in community experiences. If you would like to use every resource in the bundle for one group of students, consider making this bundle your entire curriculum. If you are short on time you could allow students to pick and choose from the resource options.

Bonus Resource: This bundle includes a free career portfolio. It is digital, so students can build their resumes and add work samples right to the portfolio.

Common Core Research Standards: CCSS.WHST.9-10.7, CCSS.WHST.9-10.8, CCSS.WHST.9-10.9, CCSS.WHST.11-12.7, CCSS.WHST.11-12.8, CCSS.WHST.11-12.9

If you have to cover specific standards other than the Common Core Standards mentioned, ask students to design their learning experiences around those standards.
