Description

When covering the Cold War topics of The Truman Doctrine and The Marshall Plan I often noticed that my students had trouble differentiating between the two, or mixing them up. This resource does an excellent job of helping student understand what each topic was, why it was used, and the differences between the two.

In the first part of the assignment students read through a document on The Truman Doctrine, answering 5 reading comprehension question and 2 questions regarding current US relations with Turkey and Greece. (Students might need help with these questions, as they may not be aware of the answer to these questions).

In the second part of the assignment students will read through a document on The Marshall Plan, answering another 7 reading comprehension questions that go along with the second document.

Last, students will use the documents to fill out a Venn diagram that will clearly illustrate the similarities, and differences, of these important Cold War concepts.
