4 coins (penny, nickel, dime, and quarter) Lesson Plan for Autistic Population
This summer, our school is focusing on a very important life skill-financial literacy. With this lesson plan, it'll be worth your money as the financial literacy activities will have your students thinking critically while counting coins! Please note this lesson plan was made only for United States currency. Financial literacy is important because it equips students with the knowledge and skills needed to manage money effectively. Learning these crucial life skills in school will greatly benefit our students outside of school once they transition into adulthood. This lesson plan is based on the book. The Coin Counting Book by Rozanne Lanczak Williams. The book shows different combinations of coins that are equal to each other and states the value of each coin. It can be used for whole group, small group, and independent instruction – which makes this 3-page lesson plan an excellent choice for a math center as well.
Giving your students this opportunity of hands-on learning with play money and a cash register, will make Math come alive!
