Description

Brief Notes on Classifying Triangles Quick Notes

My notes utilizes scaffolding instruction for student learning to slowly loosen the reins into students' hands. The notes cover the types of triangles in regards to angles (Acute, Obtuse, Right) and equal side lengths (Scalene, Isosceles, Equilateral). The lesson also teaches about equiangular, but it is up to you if you wish to use this term. The lesson covers vocabulary and many students pick up on this lesson quickly. My advice is to take the extra time to show the notches for congruence and explain that this is vital to understanding what the picture is supposed to represent despite its appearance.

I teach students with brief notes that allot more time in class for students to practice material. I give an assignment on the material so students can use the majority of class time experiencing and mastering problems on their own. I aim for 10-20 minutes of notes and the rest of the class on the assignment. This lesson tends to take longer due to the difficulty of the material. I provide time for entrance and exit tickets additional to the lesson and notes.

My students are behind in math skills and have time and time again flunked out of previous math classes or have been expelled. I aim to use short concise notes to get students back on track and build up their math skills.

I often use Kuta worksheets or others for students to practice skills taught in this lesson.
