Classical Mythology Project: Creative Retelling of a Greek or Roman Myth

This product is a handout describing a multi-step project or assignment which can be completed by individual students or in groups. Students find, read, summarize, analyze, and retell a myth from Greek or Roman mythology with a focus on the key question:

what does this moment teach us about the people who created this myth?

This project handout provides step-by-step instructions for analyzing and retelling classical myth. Suggestions are made for creative and traditional ways of retelling the myth.

This project could be used in English, History or Latin class. Could be used alongside Oxford Latin Course, Latin for Americans, Latin for the New Millenium, or any other Latin program. It is suited for an advanced 8th grader or high school student.
