It History for Humans whole bundle on the Civil Rights Movement that takes learners through the story of how American went from Jim Crow to the spark of the Civil Rights Movement with the murder of Emmett Till. The second lesson picks up with the early Civil Rights Era and its successes and challenges with a focus on the Jackson Sit-In. The third lesson compares the lives, goals, and actions of Martin Luther King Jr and Malcolm X. The last lesson focuses on the rise of the Black Power Movement and the story of the 1968 Olympic protest.
Each lesson starts with a youtube video-lecture from History for Humans (this is free on youtube) and comes with a follow-along interactive note sheet that could be completed digitally or with pen and paper. These videos are not just engaging but also teach in a way to help struggling learners. Each has a quick 7 question google form quiz as a formative assessment. Lastly, each lesson has an extension activity, which is also explained clearly in the videos, that compliments and extends the learning from the video.
